Report

first part of the week the wind still had some of our mid bay reefs tough to fish... trout action was spotty.. 5/20 only ended up with 10 fish... using live shrimp under a popping cork.. largest was 20".. 5/21 still had challenging conditions.. surf was still rough,so, we stayed in the bay...had 3/4 limits of trout with the largest going just over 20". 5/22 our weather had improved greatly, but the trout would not cooperate.. ended with only 1/2 limits.. with shrimp under a popping cork and live croaker.. 5/23 weather was fantastic for the holiday crowd... we got out early, avoiding the crowd... fishing was slow early, yielding only a couple of keeper reds.. water movement started getting better around 10:30-11 am... fish got hungry despite the crowds and we ended with full limits of trout to 23"..and left them biting, in fact several of the fish were in the 21-23 class... baits of choice were live croaker and corky devil-eye.. both took approx the same amount of large fish, fishing over mud and grass. 5/24 was a repeat of the previous day.. limits of trout to 23".. baits also remained live croaker and corky devil-eyes.5/25... catch and release am outing... trout on every cast from small to 22".. again over mud and grass.. baits of choice, gold spoons, topwaters and gulp.. all produced equally well. caught and released approx 40 trout.. LIFE IS GOOD.... water temps 76 to 80... lots of sun during the weekend with a few thunderbumpers.. we got about 2-1/2 inches of rain out of the showers..'till next time... capt mac
